We Love Our Clients, so We Hire the Best!

Job at a security company
Weinstein Security is growing. For the right people, we have phenomenal Sonoma and Napa County job opportunities in the security industry – both full- and part-time.

With the largest security guard fleet in the area, it would be easy to sit back and take it easy, but we still have room to grow. We credit our current level of success to our commitment to building strong, long-term relationships with our clients, and to providing great-paying security jobs for our people – and we need more of those amazing people!

Our Commitment To Our Clients

We know that they are critical to our success, so we provide a level of service that goes beyond what most would expect.

As an example, we make ourselves available to them any time, day or night. That doesn’t mean we have an answering service outside of business hours. This is a family-owned business, and the owners Dan P. and Maureen Weinstein answer the phone personally after hours.

If you are the type of person who understands and appreciates our level of commitment to our clients, we have security jobs available, and you just might be a great fit.

Our Commitment To Our Team

We believe we are the best private security company around, and we didn’t get here on our own. We did it by surrounding ourselves with the best people. We appreciate our employees more than words can express, but we try our best to show it.

Here are a few of the ways we let our team know that we care:

  • Medical benefits for full-time employees
  • Matching IRA for full-time employees
  • Vacation pay for all employees
  • Overtime pay for holidays worked

As a family-owned company, our people are not just cogs in a large corporate machine. They are a part of the Weinstein Security family. We believe that this is the reason we still have people working with us who’ve been here from the start, back in 2002.

All Positions Available

We have both full- and part-time positions available, and we’re looking for security officers and security route drivers. If you act quickly, we’re offering a hiring bonus for route drivers, but it won’t be available forever. So if you’re over 18 with a current California Guard Card license and California driver’s license, like working outdoors, and are customer-focused, you just might be the right person for our team.

Be sure to check out our employment page for more information and to complete an application – we just might be welcoming you to the family soon!

6 Tips to Get the Most Benefit From Your Security Company

Security Guard JobYou’ve hired a great security company for your business. So there’s nothing more you need to do, right?

Not so fast… If you want your security service to provide the most benefit to your business, whether it’s Weinstein Security or a company local to you, there are a few tips you should follow to ensure that they are able to give you the best results possible in keeping your business, yourself, and your employees safe.

So, here are six easy-to-follow tips to set yourself and your contracted security guard company up for success.

  1. Give them a map of your building – It’s important for your security guards to know the layout of the building. They need to know where all the exits are and which parts of the building may be most vulnerable. A security guard’s eyes can’t be everywhere at once, so knowing where they should direct the most attention will make them much more efficient at their jobs.
  2. Maintain your outdoor lights – Thieves and other potential intruders don’t like light. They want to stay where they are least likely to be seen. Making sure your lighting is always working makes breaking in less appealing if they can’t easily hide from your security team.
  3. Check your cellular reception – This is particularly important when you’re looking for a new location. You don’t want your guards or your employees to be without service in an emergency, so verify that you can get a good connection all around the building. If you can, test with a few different providers as well.
  4. Don’t create obstacles – You will want to ensure that security cars can move freely and safely around the property being guarded.
  5. Communicate – Let the security guards know if you have particular areas that you’re especially concerned about protecting. More importantly, let them know about anything suspicious you may have seen that they should be on the alert for.
  6. Stay in touch – As well as communicating with the security guards, you should also meet with your security company on occasion. This doesn’t need to be in person; a phone call works just as well. The key is to give feedback, whether positive or negative. If you have small concerns, let them know before they become large ones. Weinstein Security, and any good security company, will want to correct those problems and will be glad you let them know early.

Hiring a security service is a great start to keeping your business safe. Once that’s done, following these 6 suggestions will give you the confidence that your security team can do the best job possible.

Sonoma County Security Service Celebrates 16 Years!

Unintended alliteration aside, Weinstein Security has reason to live it up a little this month – May 29 marks our 16th anniversary and we have our awesome team and wonderful clients to thank. It’s because of you that we’ve become the biggest privately-owned security company in Sonoma County.

Secrets of Success

The security service business is a competitive one. With a combined 35 years of experience in the security industry when they started, Dan P. and Maureen Weinstein were well aware of this fact. To stand out, they focused largely on two things: creating well-paying security jobs with great benefits for their employees – some of whom have been with the company since the beginning – and building long-term relationships with their clients.

This strategy has paid off well. Maureen points out that, “As a locally owned security company, we have the largest patrol fleet in our area.” This has led to gaining some “larger government and private contracts over the years,” despite competition from some very large security firms. “One of our biggest accomplishments was to be selected by Equity Office Properties as the sole provider of security services in the Sonoma County area when we were still a fairly small company,” she mentions.

Summing up the company’s success, Maureen says, “We have worked for all of it. We had a handful of amazing people that were there for us at the beginning and we had a dynamic duo of an Operations Manager and Assistant for over 5 years that just made everything work and grow for quite some time.”

We Love Our Security Guards

When the Weinsteins started the company back in ’02, they didn’t know about the economic rollercoaster ride the country would experience in the coming years; when it got tough, though, they showed their commitment to the team. At a time when many companies were cutting employee benefits, they made sure that their full-time employees kept theirs. They kept them working, too – those full-timers were working at least 32 hours per week despite difficult economic times.

Maureen recounts a time she was thanked by the wife of an employee “for having medical insurance that saved his life.” And in addition to crucial medical benefits, Weinstein Security understands that a complete benefits package should include vacation time and retirement benefits; these benefits were also maintained during the recession.

According to payscale.com, “a majority [of security guard jobs] lack any form of coverage.” The Weinsteins’ appreciation of the value of great employees is a large part of what makes us stand out from the pack.

To the Future

Weinstein Security is proud of our accomplishments over the past 16 years and we’re excited for what the future brings. We’re confident that our commitment to providing the best security guard jobs in the area, and to building long-term client relationships through excellent customer service, will continue to drive our success for the next 16 years and beyond.

The Ultimate Guide to Securing Your Business Building

Business owner and employee working in a secured building

Security is something that all business owners need to think about whether you run an office, small store, or shop. But there’s no need to let it daunt you. Or worse, put it off until something goes wrong. Let us help you determine the best security measures for your business.

The two most common and effective ways to secure your building are technology and personnel. Technology includes alarm systems along with interior and exterior cameras. A security official either remains on-site or stops by throughout the day and/or night to watch your property. You should consider one of these strategies or a combination of both. Here are a few questions to help you plan a safer space for your business and employees.

Assess your security situation and needs:

  1. Do you have any employees leaving work after dark?
  2. Is the parking lot a long walk from the building or in a poorly lit area?
  3. Do you hold cash on premise?
  4. Are there multiple points of entry to your shop?
  5. Is it important to see a video of your office interior and exterior in real time on your computer or mobile phone?
  6. Is your business ever closed without employees on site for long periods of time? Weekends, holidays, etc.?
  7. Have you had security issues in the past?

Determine what security resources you need:

If you answered yes to questions 1-3 then a security guard is a good choice for your business. If you answered yes to questions 4 and 5 then technology should be a part of your plan. If you answered yes to a combination of these questions then your best bet is to establish both methods in a complimentary way.

  • Personnel Benefits: A security guard is the best crime deterrent. You receive direct on-site customer service. A guard gives your employees a sense of security. Trained guards handle on-site crime quickly and can respond to security system alarms. They are familiar with your property layout and better understand how to approach the situation.
  • Technology Benefits: Video keeps a visual record of the intruder or issue. An alarm could scare off an intruder and will alert authorities. Footage can be monitored from home. Some systems include fire and carbon monoxide detectors. The presence of a security system could deter intruders from attempting to break-in.
