We Love Our Clients, so We Hire the Best!

Job at a security company
Weinstein Security is growing. For the right people, we have phenomenal Sonoma and Napa County job opportunities in the security industry – both full- and part-time.

With the largest security guard fleet in the area, it would be easy to sit back and take it easy, but we still have room to grow. We credit our current level of success to our commitment to building strong, long-term relationships with our clients, and to providing great-paying security jobs for our people – and we need more of those amazing people!

Our Commitment To Our Clients

We know that they are critical to our success, so we provide a level of service that goes beyond what most would expect.

As an example, we make ourselves available to them any time, day or night. That doesn’t mean we have an answering service outside of business hours. This is a family-owned business, and the owners Dan P. and Maureen Weinstein answer the phone personally after hours.

If you are the type of person who understands and appreciates our level of commitment to our clients, we have security jobs available, and you just might be a great fit.

Our Commitment To Our Team

We believe we are the best private security company around, and we didn’t get here on our own. We did it by surrounding ourselves with the best people. We appreciate our employees more than words can express, but we try our best to show it.

Here are a few of the ways we let our team know that we care:

  • Medical benefits for full-time employees
  • Matching IRA for full-time employees
  • Vacation pay for all employees
  • Overtime pay for holidays worked

As a family-owned company, our people are not just cogs in a large corporate machine. They are a part of the Weinstein Security family. We believe that this is the reason we still have people working with us who’ve been here from the start, back in 2002.

All Positions Available

We have both full- and part-time positions available, and we’re looking for security officers and security route drivers. If you act quickly, we’re offering a hiring bonus for route drivers, but it won’t be available forever. So if you’re over 18 with a current California Guard Card license and California driver’s license, like working outdoors, and are customer-focused, you just might be the right person for our team.

Be sure to check out our employment page for more information and to complete an application – we just might be welcoming you to the family soon!

Sonoma County Security Service Celebrates 16 Years!

Unintended alliteration aside, Weinstein Security has reason to live it up a little this month – May 29 marks our 16th anniversary and we have our awesome team and wonderful clients to thank. It’s because of you that we’ve become the biggest privately-owned security company in Sonoma County.

Secrets of Success

The security service business is a competitive one. With a combined 35 years of experience in the security industry when they started, Dan P. and Maureen Weinstein were well aware of this fact. To stand out, they focused largely on two things: creating well-paying security jobs with great benefits for their employees – some of whom have been with the company since the beginning – and building long-term relationships with their clients.

This strategy has paid off well. Maureen points out that, “As a locally owned security company, we have the largest patrol fleet in our area.” This has led to gaining some “larger government and private contracts over the years,” despite competition from some very large security firms. “One of our biggest accomplishments was to be selected by Equity Office Properties as the sole provider of security services in the Sonoma County area when we were still a fairly small company,” she mentions.

Summing up the company’s success, Maureen says, “We have worked for all of it. We had a handful of amazing people that were there for us at the beginning and we had a dynamic duo of an Operations Manager and Assistant for over 5 years that just made everything work and grow for quite some time.”

We Love Our Security Guards

When the Weinsteins started the company back in ’02, they didn’t know about the economic rollercoaster ride the country would experience in the coming years; when it got tough, though, they showed their commitment to the team. At a time when many companies were cutting employee benefits, they made sure that their full-time employees kept theirs. They kept them working, too – those full-timers were working at least 32 hours per week despite difficult economic times.

Maureen recounts a time she was thanked by the wife of an employee “for having medical insurance that saved his life.” And in addition to crucial medical benefits, Weinstein Security understands that a complete benefits package should include vacation time and retirement benefits; these benefits were also maintained during the recession.

According to payscale.com, “a majority [of security guard jobs] lack any form of coverage.” The Weinsteins’ appreciation of the value of great employees is a large part of what makes us stand out from the pack.

To the Future

Weinstein Security is proud of our accomplishments over the past 16 years and we’re excited for what the future brings. We’re confident that our commitment to providing the best security guard jobs in the area, and to building long-term client relationships through excellent customer service, will continue to drive our success for the next 16 years and beyond.

9 Ways to Know a Security Guard Job is Right For You

Security Guard JobHave you thought about becoming a security guard, but still aren’t sure? Here are 9 signs that a career in security is the right fit for you.

  1. You like to stay up late. This is a great way for night owls to make money. If you’re not thrilled by working the 9-5 grind and prefer to sleep in. A job in security might be a good fit for you. Shifts are often at night.
  2. You need a job now. Getting started in the security industry is easier than you might think. After a full day of training, you’ll be a certified security professional. You can start working in the field immediately upon the state issuing you the license.
  3. You’re interested in law enforcement. Many law enforcement officials get their start through entry-level security jobs. A guard position is a valuable stepping-stone to a future law enforcement career. Or, if you’re curious if law enforcement is a good field for you, this is a great way to find out.
  4. You want a flexible job that fits around your other responsibilities. Guard work fits well with your lifestyle. It’s a great second job and accommodates school schedules. It’s also ideal for retirees to make extra money and enjoy a rewarding job later in life.
  5. You like to move around and enjoy the outdoors. A guard position allows you to walk and stand during the shift, oftentimes outdoors. This is a great position if you’d rather not be stuck in an office building or sitting for long periods of time.
  6. You like responsibility with low supervision. Security guards are often patrolling serviced areas or on-site at businesses and events. You’ll be on your own and entrusted with the task of safeguarding people.
  7. You like working in a quiet environment with few people around. If a customer service job or employment in a busy office isn’t for you, a more peaceful job as a guard might be. There is some interaction with groups of people on occasion. But most often, you’re working solo.
  8. You want your friends and family to feel safe around you. A job in security often brings admirable skills and traits into your personal life. We find that friends and family members of our guards feel a greater sense of security. It’s one of the most rewarding aspects of a security guard occupation.
  9. You want great work benefits. We don’t blame you! Weinstein Security offers health insurance, vacation pay, overtime on holidays, life insurance, a retirement plan, and competitive rates.

One Shocking Trait that Makes Security Guards Great at Their Jobs

The security guard you want protecting you and your family is calm and often quiet.

Surprised? People often assume security guards are aggressive and loud. But, that isn’t true of the best guardians, who are often quiet, but observant.

While there are many qualities you might want in your neighborhood custodian, calm is at the top of our list. Here’s why it should be at the top of yours too.

When details matter, guards need to communicate them quick and accurately. Yet, high levels of adrenaline can cause forgetfulness in threatening situations. Guards trained to be calm in adrenaline provoking situations notice more details. Reporting them fast and correct to fellow security guards and law enforcement. Their swift communication shortens the time it takes for backup to arrive and prevents other problems from occurring.

Calmness is critical in times of action, too. Calm security guards keep composure, diffusing a situation instead of antagonizing an intruder. With this skill, they have greater management over the situation. Their aim is to maintain safety, catching a criminal is secondary. They are cautious at every step and think before they act. Even a few moments of reserve help guards make the right decisions and mistakes are avoided. Calmer guards also recall their training when they need it. They follow essential protocol instead of reacting rogue when energized and fearful. We train our security professionals to handle any situation in an effective and safe way. We know they use it on duty.

Most importantly, calm guards give you a sense of safety in times of both peace and panic. Aggressive security guards can make you feel fearful and anxious. A guard’s role is to defend you when situations arise, but also to give you a sense of protection daily. You should never feel like danger is around the corner, you should feel that it’s prevented. When trouble does arise, their calm demeanor is comforting. You’ll be reassured that all proper steps were taken and that you’re now safe.

At Weinstein Security, calmness is non-negotiable. The men and women that protect our communities must possess it.
